Filter coffee in a brass tumbler on the resort verandah

Three meals, written by the day

Filter coffee on the verandah at sunrise. A long lunch. A bonfire dinner where the staff cook what the market gave them this morning.

We are not a fine-dining restaurant. We are a family kitchen that feeds a small lodge — and we cook the way Masinagudi cooks. Most of what reaches the plate grew within thirty kilometres.

Three meals

Forest breakfast

07:30

Forest breakfast

Idlis, dosas, vegetable upma, fresh fruit, and the morning's first filter coffee. Eggs the way you like them. If you are heading out for the dawn safari, we pack a flask.

Verandah lunch

13:00

Verandah lunch

Banana-leaf thalis on most days — sambar, rasam, two vegetables, curd rice, a small sweet. North Indian or continental on request. Lunch is light, the afternoon is for the river.

Bonfire dinner

19:30

Bonfire dinner

A simple Indian buffet around a bonfire, weather permitting. Tandoor on Fridays. The cook plays old film songs from a Bluetooth speaker; the gibbons keep time from somewhere.
